This is a poem I wrote as a lead to one of the chapters in my book.
Hope you enjoy it. After you have read it – please be sure to write down the things that are good about you – 2 physical characteristics, 2 personality traits, and 1 skill.
Then, close your eyes and dream about the things you want to see in your life. Open your eyes and write it down. Let the universe begin helping you realize your dream.
GREAT EXPECTATIONS by MJ Waldock
When I grow up
My parent’s talk
Of what they want for me
A doctor or a lawyer
Or a President you see.
My friends of course
Have other plans
Of where I should end up
A lesser goal, no grand desires
No shining winners cup.
But when I dream
I see myself
High above the crowd
A star that shines bright and strong
My parents would be proud
I think about
The hopes and dreams
The care and guiding light
Of those who brought me to this life
It takes me to new heights
How grand or small
The dreams we have
They’re ours to reach each day
The final score is sweetest yet
When we do it all our way.

A thought-provoking question indeed. There comes a time we all must stop and ask ourselves, “Why?” – to make sure what we are doing with our lives bring us fulfillment, a good conscience and joy.
DaNel, I hope to create many thought provoking questions. Someone once told me – you make me think in ways in which I am unaccustomed, and you make me look at myself. I am not sure I like what I see. We need to all like what we see.
This is so true! All too often, we strive to make everyone else happy and forget the most important person…..ourselves! I love this opportunity to network with women all over the world!
Shelly, thanks for your comments. Please send the link to this blog to anyone you think might be interested.
Doing it my way is precisely all I’ve ever wanted. LOL! I’ve never been good at anything else! Love it. Thanks for sharing and having me think about the things I like about myself. The physical characteristics is something I don’t think I’ve seen often. Gotta love that too!
