Moments and Memories

It’s September of 2013.  Time moves ever so quickly that sometimes we actually miss our own lives.  For the past three years I have been conducting a monthly inspiration breakfast.  It is just an inspiring morning,  The women who attend share their stories as we discuss the topic of the month.  Every topic has a thread that illustrates how you can be the most important person in your life, because you are.

It’s funny, when I ask women if they think they are the most important person in their lives, they are ashamed to say yes? Why?

If you don’t take care of yourself, who will.  It’s okay to like you. in fact it is even okay to love you. Say it now,  ‘I LOVE ME.”  Look into the mirror and say to yourself over and over –  ‘I LOVE YOU, YOU ARE THE BEST.”  Feels good doesn’t it.

This month we are talking about MOMENTS AND MEMORIES.

Memories are a wonderful thing to have.  You can close you eyes and imagine yourself in a wonderful place or time that gives you joy and peace.  After all, what is life if not joy, peace and fulfillment.  So good memories can take pus back to wonderful places.  However,  When we hold on to memories of disappointment, failure, rejection, or any other memory that causes us discomfort, we lose our sense of self-esteem, self-worth, confidence and so on.  Why not let go of those olds, useless memories and make way for some new ones.  Keeping what no longer serves us, such as old clothes, friends, and ideas is neither good nor healthy.

To make new memories you must do one very important thing –  BE IN THE MOMENT.  You can’t be in the moment if you are always living in the past or future.  Worrying about what was  and what will be takes us away from being in the moment of what is.  It is what is happening today that will give us confidence and create the memories of that which we can dwell upon to put a smile on our face.

Here is a poem that I wrote several months ago.

“To dwell in the “What If’s of the past is to reside in a place of dark despair in which dreams become nightmares of demons and dragons in a battle for redemption.”
M.J. Waldock

Be in the moment and create wonderful memories.
